Cutting a wet suit(3 posts)

Cutting a wet suitgebbyfish

Plan on doing my first triathlon at Tupper Lake in June. I am planning on buying a used wet suit from someone I swim with, which fits fine everywhere but the legs. It's a large as far as I can tell, and my height makes the legs quite long. Bill, who's selling me the wet suit, tells me the legs can be cut, so that they fit better. Anyone know how to do this? Do I need to stitch up the bottom after I cut it?

Thanks!

They probably have a much better idea on how to do it properly and I imagine would not be all that expensive. I would think if you don't do a good job of stitching it up you'll end up there anyways will a much bigger job and possibly have to DNF an event if it tore pre-race. If you do it yourself, you might try Aquaseal ( http://www.nrscatalog.com/product.asp?pfid=2291 )to beef up the ends. Good luck!
