first of all, anyone done it?

secondly, is a mountian bike that important? it looks like the bike course is on top of the dam, and a fairly smooth dirt road?

Thanks for the advice. Im looking forward to my second season of doing Tri's and am being quite ambitious by doing 7, with one as an olympic distance (the other 6 are sprints)

I did this race two or three years ago. If it is still the same course (and I imagine it is), the "mountain bike" ride is partially on the dam and partially on a dirt road just below it. There are two loops. The dirt road is fairly smooth although you still need a mountain bike.
7 tri's in your second year? That's great. Good luck. I think I did an olympic distance in my second year. This year I'm trying the 1/2 Vineman for my first 1/2 Ironman.
