I'm looking for more info on winter triathlons. Is it always run/bike/ski? I'm sure I've seen snowshowing in the line up before. Can you skate XC or is it traditional style? Any good sources for events (US, Colorado specifically) and information?
Did a different type in Seattle a couple timesbrider

It was dubbed the "indoor triathlon", and consisted of rowing, biking and running, all on indoor equipment.

You were given 10 minutes on each machine, with 5 minute "transitions," and you went as far as you could in that 10 minutes. The rowing machine was a Concept II ergometer. The biuke was on a Computrainer, with a specific course set up that every one rode. The run was on a treadmill set to 5% incline, and you controlled the speed. It was a fun event, run over two days, and the awards were presented at the end of the two days.

Don't know if they're still doing it, or if there's one in your area, but it's worth looking into.
