|Should training be modified the week before the race? I ride about 200 miles per week, swim 3 miles a week and run about 15-20 miles per week. This is my first tri so a little help is in order. Thanks!|

|The answer to this is YES, you should. Now I am by no means an expert but have done enough reading and some experimenting to know that "tapering" is a good idea. You should taper 10-14 days before an event. You will want to taper about 50% if you are doing 10 days out. Dont reduce days that you train rather reduce hours spent training on those days. 1-2 days should be spent at race-intensity otherwise everything else should be easy. I got this info from a book that I would highly recommend. Especially for athletes who are looking to attain their pinnacle performance during race season. The book is called The Triathletes Training Bible. Awesome Info.... You can find it on Amazon or at a local book store (got mine at Barnes and Noble). Hope this helps, good luck!!
