Triathlon bike - Smaller or Lager than Normal w/ Aero Bars?JaredICLA

Im looking at many different models of used bikes to train on for my first triathlon. One of my main problems is that Im not sure what size bike is best for triathlons. Im 6 feet tall, 170 with a 30-31" inseem, so most bike stores immediatly try and size me to a 56 cm bike. However, I have a long torso and after they see me on the bike they move me up to a 58 cm frame. However, I want to put aero bars on my bike, and Im not sure if I should go for a smaller bike or a larger bike. Another problem is that while I fit a 58 cm Trek, Cannondales have longer top tubes and Im wondering if I should go down to a 56 cm Cannondale. Sorry for all the rambling, but any help/suggestions would be great. Thanx

I'm by no means a bike fit expert, but... I'm 6'00'', with 33-34 inseem. I ride a 56cm road frame that stretched me out over the bars well beyond my comfort zone. I replaced the stock stem with one much shorter and pushed the seat forward on the seat post.

www.slowtwitch.com is a good site for tri specific bike info.
