|was able to retain Valverde, they are adding Casero. if they could get Vino they may get back to div 1. Kelme also picked up a Regional Tourism Sponsor (Comunida Valenciana) which seems to be the new deal in Spanish cycling. Keep us informed on Vino, I honestly hope he gets a team leader position, if he can maintain momentum from last year he certainly deserves it.|

|out of curiosity, will the points Vino can bring be enough to make automatic tour selection for Kelme?
here's msg from cycling forums, looks like ugly babel translation:
Vinokourov goos to Kelme
ALEXANDER VALVERDE WILL NOT RUN THE NEXT EDITION OF THE TOUR
The Kelme could file to Alexandre Vinokurov
Alexandre Vinokurov, third in the past Tour of France, could be the trick of the Kelme equipment for the next edition of the French race, once the Spanish equipment is pending to close the budget and the group for season 03/04.
The Kelme at the moment shuffles the possibility of incorporating to Homemade, winning Angel of Return 2001 and two runners and between the most probable options is more the one of the Spanish Mikel Zarrabeitia.
The rest of draftees will depend on the budget that will be closed Friday with the company/signature of the sponsorship of the Community of Valencia. The pattern of the equipment, Pepe Quiles, did not discard to Efe Radio the possibility of filing to Vinokurov, at the moment in the rows of the T-Mobile, where they militate among other Jan Ullrich, Paolo Savoldelli, Santiago Botero and Erik Zabel.
The sport director del Kelme, Vicente Belda, more far saw the possibility of contracting al cycling kazajo and was trusted receiving the invitation del Tour of France in the 25 year del anniversary del equipment and its present group, to weighing of which its figure, Alexander Valverde, discarded to go to the French race. "Valverde does not want to go to the Tour, but if the draftee of Caretaker takes shape, and with Rubén Seat, Paschal Rodriguez and other runners I believe that we do not have bad equipment to go", it indicated Belda.
Belda stressed that the names of the draftees will be known shortly and added that on Vinokurov "there is nothing, although Pepe Quiles will know".

|sounds like bad translation. but I get the gist, almost as if it went through a couple languages before English.|

|UCI closed registration of Div 1/2 teams and as expected Vino stayed with T-Mobil. I guess being a second fiddle on Div 1 team beats being a captan of Div 2 team, at least he'll be riding in grand tours. So what is in future? Paris-Nice? spring classics? tour de Swisse? and hopes Jan will screw his knee again?|

|they'll have to as you say make him an early season captain (when Jan isn't racing) for the Spring and then put him to work for the TdF. It's a potent combo as Vino is a GC threat and prone to taking flyers. It will force USPS to chase and Jan can sit on. Takes some of the heat of Jan, wonder if Team Politics will screw vino in the Olympics (again).|| |
