| Why so few Postie aquisitions? | eyebob Sep 4, 2003 11:44 AM | | Seems like the bulk of the available riders (esp. those from the soon-to-be defunct ONCE and iBanesto.com teams) have gone to other teams. The Posties have signed a few young riders and have not lost anyone (don't know about Vandevelde though) but have not really signed anyone new. Are they that good already. I suppose that for their primary purpose (win the tour and make a good showing in the Spring Classics) they are set, but I'd have assumed they'd do more.
Thoughts?

| if it ain't broke, why fix it? | mohair_chair Sep 4, 2003 2:22 PM | | My impression is that the only thing USPS is concerned about is their classics squad, so they've grabbed a number of Belgians. If they can get guys who can be with Hincapie at the end of a cobbled classic, he might actually win one. As far as stage racing goes, there doesn't seem to be a weakness on the squad. |
| if it ain't broke, why fix it? | atpjunkie Sep 4, 2003 4:35 PM | | but my guess is Slava will retire. who's gonna step up? maybe one of the new Belgians can take his place. good on postal for building a classics squad. George deserves that much. |
| I suppose, but on another note, | eyebob Sep 8, 2003 10:35 AM | | I love that US Postal is a more well-rounded, meaning able to ride and contest a variety of races, type of squad. It's funner for me to watch races in which one of their squad is contesting the outcome.

| What's up with Vandevelde? | Jer77 Sep 5, 2003 1:47 PM | | He rode so strong in the Vuelta last year but I have not heard anything about him lately. What happened? Does anyone know if he will be leaving Postal? |
