He can probably take a minute off of Mayo. I don't know about the other Basque dude.

Not likely. He'll put several minutes into Mayo, but Zubeldia is a good TT'er. Not sure he can put a minute on him. Vino is also a decent TT'er.

But with this Tour, all bets are off. Ya never know, maybe Zubeldia is tired, maybe Vino has a huge mental letdown after knowing he is tired and was no longer able to climb with the leaders, much less out-climb them.

... he would have to take another successful flier in the next couple days. If he can escape with a successful break and pick-up another 3-4 minutes, then maybe he can get third. We can all cross our fingers and hope... except the Basques and Kazahks among us ;-)

a break would be almost impossible in next 2 days. with 4 guys battling for the GREEN peloton will be controlled by the sprint teams. Zabel and McEwan have possibility of beating Cooke with O'Grady as the darkhorse. only way possible is if Vino takes a flier and kills himself trying to climb up GC. EIther he does suicide break or goes too hard early in TT and cracks. His TT this year was his best, he usually loses a couple of minutes to the top guys but he's got Kivi riding with him. If he's smart he'll try to defend his spot on the podium and not try to climb up the rankings. Tyler will pass Mayo but I think Zubeldia will hold.

I thought it was interesting to see Telecom looking for the catch considering it was the Spanish fellas who were most threatned today. Short of a mechanical with Vino and a huge ride by Tyler over Zubeldia, the standings won't change much. Mayo is in trouble however. But those two thugs deserve it for their treatment of Jan on Monday.

they led chase early but lacked the legs. Fassa tried but doesn't have the #'s. Telekom only pulled when lead went to 5 plus minutes and Vino was threatened. was nice to see some other teams having to 'protect' for once.
