what if Jan had signed with CSC?velocity

I like seeing Jan in his celeste Bianchi uniform but the team is weak. What if Tyler and Jan and Sastre had been teammates working together in the mountains with Bjarne at the controls?

would Lance have a chance???

To answer the question above, Jan can't be with Tyler in CSC cause there can only be one top dog.

CSC could of had twoo top dogs. They would have probably raced for Tyler at Giro and Jan at tour. That situation would have been worked out beforehand.

Lance is damn smart and had a lot to do with shaping the USPS team. He knows how important it is to have Heras, Rubiera, Beltan, Hincapie... on your side. Therefore he wouldn't ever be a part of a weak team for the Tour. We all know the Tour is what his whole program is built for.

As for Jan and Tyler not being capable of being on the same team... Bjarne wanted them both. In some cases you can have more than one top dog. And if one guy can handle it, it's Tyler.

That was his best option. It would have been a great fit for him. But Jan kind of played games with Riis & CSC which made it hard for them to get a co-sponsor for CSC.

I don't think the same thing would be happening ...sacheson

... because Jan would have lost his entourage in signing with CSC. I don't think he'd be having the success he is if those he trusts weren't by his side.

Now ... a better question would be what if Coast didn't dissolve? He'd have Zulle and Beltran. That would have been a 1-2 punch for USPS.
where is Zulle......??? nmafrican

USPS nabbing Beltran -- yes!velocity

But if Jan had signed with CSC he wouldn't have had to deal with the dissolution of Team Coast!

It's amazing nontheless that Team Bianchi was able to rise out of the ashes of Team Coast a month b4 the Tour and for Jan to be in such good form and mounting a formidable challenge to Lance.

I hate to think what stage 13 finish would have been like if Ulrich had Bertran on his team.

You have to remember that the whole race is like a chess game...each attack or position is based on what your main rivels are doing. So, thinking Lance would be in big trouble because who is on what is hard to say. Perhaps lance would see a major threat and ride that much harder...and now have a 5 min lead instead of 67secs!
I shudder to think where USPS would be w/o Beltran...spyderman

Chest X-rays clear for Heras - 23/7/03

Roberto Heras (US Postal-Berry Floor) hasn't been able to play his normal Tour role to pace Lance Armstrong up the climbs to the best of his ability. The lightly built Spaniard has been suffering from breathing problems, and the team fears that it could be bronchitis. Heras was taken to hospital in Pau for chest X-rays today, but they didn't reveal anything.
