|I just read the story on Lance's crash, and while it didn't seem huge and happened early, I imagine it took him a good 20 seconds to get up and get going again. Did Ulrich wait as did Lance a few years ago?
Difference cicumstances yes, but the principal is the same. Don't kick your closest competitor while he is down.

|Crash didn't happen early! AP report messed it up. He crashed after attacking on the final ascent. Everyone waited for him.|

|Lance took a little longer too since he was starting to get going, then he slipped off his right pedal. He came off both pedals stacked his arms on the handlebar and almost damaged the family jewels on the top tube. He didn't fall to the ground though. Very unnerving I'm sure.
Ulrich waited and as soon as Lance got up to the front, he dropped Ulrich, thank you very much!

|Imagine how hard it is to remount on an incline like that!!! I've had to remount on a steep climb before and with no momentum, it is interesting to say the least.|

|See his daily report where he says:
"Should Ullrich have waited for him? After all two years ago, it was a great gesture, but of little importance to the race -- they were going downhill. This time, Ullrich lost all his rhythm and he can never accelerate like Lance. Just another viewpoint."

|Well I think it was very sporting for both Tyler & Ullrich to wait but............I also think it was wrong for LA to go into a attack as soon as he rejoined ( if that is in fact what happened )
I read it that way but have not seen footage. Seems like a rude way to say thanks. I mean his momentum was up & theirs was on hold.
Did anyone see the footage? If so is that how it happened?

|...and given that Lance probably saw what I saw initially -- that Jan seemed to be pedalling briskly away from the crash he just witnessed, I believe him. (I was fuming at Ullrich at first because it looked like he wasn't going to wait for Lance at all. )
But again, as someone has already pointed out, Lance did ride with them for a brief respite before attacking , and it was indeed Mayo who attacked first.

|Would of Jan waited if Tyler did not go forward and waves his hands, yelling at everyone.
Jan was still hammering when Tyler waaved his arms. Thats what I observed.
|yes. he was already looking back for lance...||aet|

|plus tyler is not his father and probably does not have the status to make jan do anything. the basques might not have, though.|| |
