Unbuckled helmets? Is it a protest?High Gear

I don't come to this part of RBR much, so I'm not sure if you have touched on this subject yet. It seems silly not to connect the strap if you have to wear it. I'm sure the lid wouldn't still be in place right before the cranium hits the deck. Stupid..stupid..stupid!

How much additional heat does the buckle produce under the chin, vs behind the head? It's stupid.

One of these days, an unbuckled helmet is going to fall off a rider and find it's way into the wheel of another rider.
After that happens, either the UCI will make a rule, saying riders who don't buckle their helmets will be treated as if they had no helmet on at all.

OR A rider will fall with an unbuckled helmet, the helmet rolls one way, the riders grey matter rolls the other way. After THAT, the rule will change. If the UCI really cared about safety first, they'd already be fining the riders.

I think the rule was finally created for public relations. As long as little Johnny sees his fav rider wearing a helmet on TV, that's good enough.
