|I am getting more and more irritated with the French. First there stupid lack of support for the Iraq war, then they keep Cipo out of the tour, then this:
I knew Tyler was out last night, but I didn't know about Levi till this am...and with Lance and Hincapie going down as well, we were lucky not to have several more Americans fold in the tour...Freddie Rodriguez was right, the organizers are idiots.

|about the French in general, but there are at least one or two who qualify as stupid. If that's not bad enough, here's the response to criticism:
"Despite criticism from the riders that the course was dangerous with a corner so close to the finish, the Tour organisers defended the safety of the race. Competition director Jean-Francois Pescheux said, 'If people tell me today that it was dangerous, then they should stop cycling.'" (cyclingnews.com)

|the riders may HAVE to stop cycling. Typical Chirac-ian response, what an arrogant prick.|

|Brad McGee's take on the course:
"(paraphrased from an interview he gave french TV: "Was the course safe, of course it was, certainly a lot safer than the Giro. If riders cannot handle a slight turn on a wide street at full sprint, they shouldn't be racing. So people went down?... that's our life"
I saw the course finish and the final run seemed safe to me -- I'm no Fred Rodriquez but I have been racing since 1992 ... and have had my share of spills.
Oh, and lay off the france-bashing -- don't like the TDF? No one is forcing you to watch it! -- and now I will step off my soapbox ;-)

|wasn't bad, one turn a good ways out. What made it dangerous was the lack of a team to string the bunch out, consequently too many guys were able to get to the front. The only thing that made that sprint dangerous was the lack of Cipo's DV team.|

|Don't be so bloody ignorant. France did not cause yesterdays crash. For the record THE MAJORITY OF THE WORLD was against the Iraq circus.|

A group of people united or classified together on the basis of common history, nationality, or geographic distribution: the German race.
That's how the dictionary defines it. We can call it racism or prejudice or ignorance or we can even call it patriotism, whatever you want. We can call it a chicken but if it walks like a duck........
