|Millar went without a front derailleur. Couldn't tell if he was only running with one chainring but apparently on the cobbles, his chain came off and you could see on TV that he had to use his hand to get it back on the ring. It cost him probably 3-5 seconds and cost him the Yellow.
Quite a disappointment. Undoubtedly come Confidis wrench getting fried for making the call to go without the front derailleur. Old hands will recall that as a precaution, even if only running a single chainring, that you'd keep the FD on just for something like what happened to Millar, as a guide for the chain.
Interesting results although at a little under 7k, 11 seconds spreading the top 10 doesn't mean much at this point.

|Just kidding. I am sure it was David's choise to use only 1 chainring. Its too bad, he is showing good form. We'll see, i still dont think of him as a top 5 contender.|

|Millar blames his team management for failing to mount a Campy chainring and using an inferior (unnamed) substitute instead. Also, without a front derailleur, the chain drop was also harder to remedy once it occurred.|
