This is trivia, I think.

I have noticed that the Saeco riders are on bikes that have both this year's color scheme (the blood red) and last year's color scheme (grey with red panels). Simoni did the Zoncolan climb on a grey/red panel bike, but I have also seen him on a blood red bike, and I think that we've all seen the pictures of his 'spider paint job' bike.

It's trivia, but any idea why we're seeing this? I'd figure that Simoni would have a couple of CAAD7's for himself with the 2003 paint scheme.

Saeco's new '03 team bike (featured in VeloNews ad is raw Aluminum (silver) with red panels. I assume this bike is lighter (less powder coat) and maybe broke out for climbing. It could also be so wrenches, soignier etc... can find his Bikes easier. I've not noticed any other Saeco rider on the silver.

The 2003 Saeco bike is red. I have seen other Saeco riders besides Simoni on the 2002 frame.

yes I'm aware. I think the silvers are lighter 'climbing rigs" less paint, less weight. Check the adds of the CAAD7 Saeco bikes in the VeloNews inside fr. covers.

are anodized to save weight, I'm not sure if TEAM RED are anodized or painted.
