hey,

with a seemingly perfect leadout on friday's stage, why did cipo give up 50m from the line? he was in first position and just had to kick in the effort. he just sat up and let everyone go around him. i haven't found any explanation for this at all, anyone know why? it doesn't seem to be lack of form (givenyesterday and today's results!), and i couldn't see any mechanical. why would he set his leadout train on 100% if he wasn't gonna make use? what gives?

wanted to sprint but if he was absolutely pegged at 100% maybe he couldn't, or he could have cramped when he went to jump.
It was Lombardi....CharlesTT

Earlier in the year Mario and Lombardi had some problems, arguing about something that happened. They were ok but i think Mario was still just really mad at Lombardi. You had to see Lombardi's face coming to the finish line on friday.

gave that 'look' because he and the team put out a perfect lead only to have Mario blow with no legs left. Imagine busting your a$$ for the last 8K of a race, putting in a huge effort for a lead out, setting your man up for the win and only seeing the competition go by. Petacchi had no trouble coming around nor McEwan, Mario was gassed. Lombardi was frustrated as he beat Mario as well. as his last 2 wins have shown, Mario is compleletly spent at the finish, he can't even stand for the interview. That sprint was just too much for him.
