|I'm pretty sure that Lincoln did the research and found that cyclists do indeed buy Lincoln Navigators. I'm sure their research also indicates that cyclists who watch racing on TV and do not yet own Lincoln Navigators generally fall into the demographic that can afford to buy a Lincoln Navigator, and therefore it makes sense to target them. Why would they put that much money into a useless campaign?
I sure that Captain Morgan feels the same way. And all the other advertisers.

|Maybe they did research, maybe they didn't. Don't forget that OLN markets to hunters and fishers as well.
I go to a lot of road races. I've honestly never seen a Navigator. I rarely see big SUVs. I see a lot of Japanese and German cars, some pickups and a fair amount of small 4xs (Subarus, CRVs, etc.)
On another note, it's kind of interesting that the naturally interested parties, Volvo, Saturn, Mercury and Subaru, aren't represented on OLN.

|Or my favorite. I can't even remember the product, which is probably a good thing. The scene is two guys string a rope from trees, across a road just as a pack of racing cyclists comes into view. The cyclists hit the rope and go flying.

|at least Lincoln is willing to support the broadcasts. I am sure that OLN would like to have a greater variety of ads. But, if sponsors will not buy them, what is OLN to do? I am not in the market for an auto, and I doubt that I would buy a Lincoln, but the ads, at least, have had a "goodwill" effect upon me. Why aren't there any ads for cycling products (other than an occasional Trek or Colorado Cyclist ad) on the OLN broadcasts? Or, why aren't there Italian travel ads during the Giro, French travel ads during the Tour and Spanish travel ads during the Vuelta? I don't know about you, but watching the broadcasts makes me think of bikes and travel. Maybe OLN's marketing people need to work a little harder. BTW: does anyone have any idea what the viewership ratings are for the grand tours on OLN?|| |
