Heras comment for tomorrowflying

I think its the kiss of death ;-)
I tend to think it is bad luck for him to say he will or expects to pull xxx amount of time out of the others.
But more power to him if he can. Shame on him if he cannot after making such a statement.

"The climb of la Covatilla is very nice, but won't be decisive. I expect to come out with an advantage over a minute and a half. For me that would lead to a very interesting fight for the final victory," he said.

Considering how soft-spoken Heras is, this is quite a statement and raised my eyebrows when I saw it as well. Such a statement coming from him is very unusual.

He must be suprememly confident right now. Which does not bode well for Kelme...

he SHOULD be able to take another minute out of Gonzalez. after that, he'll have to ride the TT of his life, because on paper, judging from the first ITT, he'll need 2 minutes on Gonzalez to be safe. yes, he didn't ride that one all out. but a minute thirty is a closer margin than I'd want.
of course, we saw what happened to Savoldelli when he had the Maglia Rosa.

he's gotta be feeling good. He's done that damage in every mountain stage so far so if he;s feeling strong, why not. He did such a hell of a job pulling for Lance in the TdF I can't help but cheer him on a little. Nice to see an ex leader now TdF worker have his deserved day.

I keep hearing that Heras isn't that good of a TT. He did finish in the top 10 on stage 10 time trial. Beloki on the other hand is said to be a great TTist...Heras only lost 33 seconds to him. I liked Bob Roll's quoat today (stage 17)..."Heras had a pocket full of dynomite and left it all over the field today." He just might have some more of that dynomite to drop on the final TT. If you've watched him over the years you'll see that he has deffinatly been focusing a lot of his training on time trials. I have to say he has earned the golden jersey...but time will be the tell.

agree. especially as this TT has some serious uphill to it. I bet I know who's going to call with a pep talk. "KILL KILL KILL take the race to them!"
