Vuelta on OLNChris

Hello everyone,

I've been away for the past couple of weeks, and am attempting to catch up on the Vuelta on OLN. Unfortunately, the times posted on their website for the Vuelta end up being fishing programs here instead!

Anybody from the Vancouver, Canada area know when the Vuelta is on OLN locally, if it is at all? Have others found this to be a common problem too (ie: different broadcasts from region to region)? I need my cycling fix :)!

Thanks!

Chris

but I think you might be SOL, I know I've seen other Canadians complaining that some cycling stuff isn't being shown up there, not sure if that pertains to the Vuelta or not.

That's the Vuelta! You're watching the Vuelta! As you might not know, the Vuelta organizers have been experimenting with new formats. Several fishing stages were introduced this year at the suggestion of Shimano, which makes rods and reels in addition to bike components (true story!).

Anyway, the rules are simple. One member from each team goes out in a boat on a lake or stream and tries to catch a fish. The clock starts running when the first fish is caught. Subsequent catches by the other competitors receive time offsets based on the time of the first catch. Like the team time trial, all team members are assigned the same time.

As you can imagine, this has caused havoc in the training and preparation for the race. When they brought back the team time trial, teams had to find good time trialists. Now teams have to pick up riders who are also good fishermen. One reason why guys like Santiago Botero and Jose Luis Ruberiea are doing so poorly right now is because they spent the six weeks after the TDF fishing rather than riding.

Next week, minature golf.

Ah, that explains why all the fishermen are in spandex. I just thought Bob Izumi lost some weight and was showing off his new figure.
