|Mancebo screws up and missed the split on stage 9, meaning his chances for the overall were basically finished. So he quits the race.
What the hell is that about? Who does that? There were a lot of guys, including highly placed Danilo Di Luca, who sucked it up and lost 18 minutes on the stage.
iBanesto team director Eusebio Unzue said Mancebo "lost his motivation." If I were team director, I'd also announce that Mancebo lost his job! You don't just quit when things don't go your way. There are still stages to win, for one thing. There's no shame in hanging out with the gruppetto for a few days until you find your motivation again.
Count me out as a Mancebo fan.

|Gotta figure the fine folks at iBanesto paying his salary would still like to see him take a stage and get their name splashed on the tele - in a POSITIVE way, rather than because one of their riders bailed to go have a good sulk.
Poor Indurain must be shaking his head.
