|I've seen several people mention here that members of the USPS team are paid well. How much is "paid well"? How does it compare to other teams in the tdf? Just curious. |

|Lance makes 4x what about every other top rider does 4 million a year (not including endorsements) Ullrich and those make just over a million. Last I checked average pay for a bottom level domestique is about $90K plus travel expenses, food per diem etc.., plus splits of winnings. USPS riders fare better but not sure on the exact figure. Heras and Rubiera are paid well, almost GC captain levels. Also the all split the Million Dollar purse if LA wins the tour.|

|Do you know something I don't? The winner get 2.5 million francs (why not in Euros, I have no idea), which is something around $500,000.
Also, the minimum wage for domestiques has been proposed at 20,000 euros, which teams say is too high...

|wow, my bad, they mentioned last year the purse was a cool mil, musta been uninformed. what's the exchange on the Euro now? Now minimum wage doesn't necessarilly apply to Tour domestiques, each team has plenty of lower riders who never get to do the tour that make the minimum. Geez, like Mapei has something like 30+ riders on its roster. I think Tour Dom's are paid better. Thanx for the correx or additional info.|

|The $500K mentioned (more like $400K) is the overall prize.
For every stage win there is money, I think about $20K. They pay out for at least the top 5 places, too.
For every day in yellow, green, polka dot, or white there is money. Most agressive rider, too.
For every sprint or KOM, there is money.
For winning or placing in the overall GC, points, mountain, team, young rider, and most aggressive rider competitions, there is money.
It all adds up. USPS will do real well if Lance wins, because Lance wins a lot of stages, Heras is getting 2nds and 3rds, Lance wears yellow for a long time, and will also score high in the mountain and points competitions. Cha-ching! Plus, USPS is second right now in the team competition, which might not hold.
The team with the top winnings for the first week was fdxjeux.com. Considering they only won one stage (McGee), the rest was for little things that added up to a lot.

|I heard a piece on the radio the other day where they mentioned that the winner of the Tour collects 381,000 Euros in Paris.|
