First Lance is "vulnerable" because he doesn't win the first TT. Now, he "fails to stun" http://sports.yahoo.com/m/sc/news/ap/20020718/ap-tourdefrance.html
because he doesn't crush everyone in the first mountain stage. Do these people know anything about stage racing? He took what was there, didn't expend more energy than he had too, wisely let his team work for him, played his cards right at the end and won the stage AND the yellow jersey AND turned a half minute deficit into a minute and a half lead. Sounds like a master tactician and clever man to me. Wait for the "real" mountain stages. We ain't seen nothin' yet!

I couldn't agree more. Because he isn't winning by Eddy Mercx-like time gaps, all of a sudden he's lost his edge. A win is a win is a win. I thought it was interesting what Cycling News' coverage said this morning:

16:57 CEST 197 km/1 km to go
Armstrong is going to take the stage very comfortably; it is clear that his strongest opponent is in his own team; good business tactics but less interesting from a sporting point of view.

Heras is his biggest competition in the mountains. He is a stud!
