did not finish. did he just drop out, or was he in a crash?
I don't think they ever mentioned his name, he probably.......chopper

dropped out. I don't think he's as mentally tough at he needs to be, but I could be wrong. I did think he would finish this year though.

According to the results on Velonews, Vaughters dropped out.

Whatever the reason for abandoning today, he can only add that to the string of bad luck he's had for the last few years.

The cycling gods just don't want him to finish a Tour.

from cyclingnews, he crashed on a descent (Abisque sp?) and suffered hand and shoulder injuries. Is he a bad bike handler, or does he have the worst luck of any human being? I see why his journals are pessemistic.

Jonathan Vaughters, the American who rides with the Credit Agricole team, also fell on the descent of the Aubisque and was forced to abandon with shoulder, elbow, knee and hand injuries.

Jul 20, 2002 5:46 PM reported that, not only did he drop out, but he decided to quit racing!! They reported that he quit (was fired?) from Credit Agricole, that he would return to school in the States and ride crits on this side of the pond.
