|Stage 1 was actually exciting, because it had noteworthy hills in it that broke up the boring tempo-fest. It was pretty cool to see Amstrong, in yellow, taking pulls in a breakaway. That doesn't happen very often.
The rest has all been a whole lot of nothing. Flat stage after flat stage is boring, even if the finish is exciting. That's not to say I don't enjoy watching it, but the mountains can never arrive soon enough.
I find the Giro and Vuelta a lot more daring by throwing in mountain top finishes in the first week.

|The first week seems to be to just tire everyone out so that the weak will get creamed in the mountains.|

|that this has been a rather exciting tour compared to some that I have seen. There have been some decent breakaways, some hard, fast riding, and a bunch of finishes that have been much more interesting-and messy-than the finishes we often see in the early stages.
If you are looking for mano-a-mano action, stares, GC favorites riding off the front, etc., well, that doesn't happen every day. But other stuff does if you listen to Phil, watch the race, and read the cycling epress.
If you are looking for the touchdown/homerun style action to begin, the first tt is in a couple of days, and that should heat things up just a tad.
