high hoods on Lance's bike?gregg

I am no expert, but doesn't it seem that the hoods are extra high on Lance's bike in this pic? I notice that he's not the only one in the peleton to do so.

I assume it is for comfort/leverage?

it may have as much to do with how far away the levers are when they're set lower. especially when they're on anatomic bars, which seem to be the majority these days.

I've noticed the trend too... It seems that several riders are doing this. He may have them set like that on races that he expects to spend most of the time on the hoods.

It doesnt look like those bars are anatomic...

LA doesn't use anatomic bars. It still might be a reach thing, or a course specific thing. I've actualy been thinking of rasing my hoods because it seems like it would be easier to get some leverage on the brake levers if they were a bit higher, and at flatter angle.
