|Lance not doing the Vuelta!||Postal Fan|

|According to lance's website the man will not ride the tour of spain. I don't think this is the best move. It's all about politics. His sponsor is in San Fran, so this is why he will ride the Grand Prix threre. Roberto will not be a happy camper. I don't think this is good for the Postal Team. Roberto played a hugh part in Lance's 3rd tour win. Lance said that he would pay him back. I don't think this is what Roberto had in mind. I was looking forward to seeing the team win another grand tour this year, not that I think they can't without Lance. But you know that this will hurt team moral. |
What do you guys think?

|Lance could be considered the best team player yet. By far not the worst by any stretch of the imagination either! But Livingston left last year and Hamilton is leaving after the vuelta (aproximatly). Lance's best climbers are gone replaced only by Heras who's major goal is the vuelta, not the tour. Postal's A squad in no made up of mostly flat stage riders (Eskimov, Vaughters, Hindicapie). but that also assumes that Vaughters can finish a tour (JK, but he did crach out in 99 on the second stage and 2001 on the first climbing stage) Hinicapie is a sprinter, but not the greatest around by any means either. besides his sights are set on the classics and he's only won one semi-classic and had several good placings but few podiums.
More and more, Postal is becoming a non-american team, not that this is a bad thing but think of the nationality composition now and of 92-99. Also Postal's "servive medecal" (I'm learning italian not french pardon the spelling) or "B" squad doesn't get the respect it diserves.
Pack to the team makeup point though, not many teams are nationality based anymore though, an italial leads out a german (telekom) a french insurance company has British TT man (cofidas) A french bank team is made up of American's Brit's and Aussies (Credit Agricole); the lisst goes on. We need to have a nation sponsered giro, tour, and vuelta (maybe even the German tour) where riders ride for their nationalities ala Olympic style. this would do several great things, put Panatani, Faggnini, and Chipo, together and 2) make some countries bring up riders to shore up short squads(cough.. hack....postal..cough cough.. USPS..hack). but just think, russia and east European states would have strong presance here, not just italy, france, and spain. maybe even an all colubian squad, eh? how bout dem apples.
why I am so harsh on Postal: what started out and was billited as an American team has morphed into an international team. Now they are called an american squad because of Lance, the staff is Euro and so are many of the "lesser" A squad members. I dont care if team segrigate or not by country, I just wanna watch good racing, well read about until I do a study abroad program....

"but that also assumes that Vaughters can finish a tour (JK, but he did crach out in 99 on the second stage and 2001 on the first climbing stage"
He got stung by a wasp, and had to drop out because the UCI wouldn't allow him to get a cortizone shot, not because he crashed out.
Just setting the record straight.
We now return to our regularly scheduled program.

|That is upsetting news. I know Lance is a team player but I think it would be great to see him do one for the team outside of the TDF. The Vuelta would have been great.|| |
