GIVE ME A BREAK!!! The podium girls are making me SICK!!!JustSpinnin

Geese,

You see those two girls in yellow behind Lance?!?!? They RAN to get behind him when the cameras started. Then the chick on the right shuffled over when she realized she was behind Lance's head in the shot. As the interview finished...the girl on the right was WATCHING for the light to go off so she could leave.

AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.....CAN'T STAND THAT CRAP!!!!

Oh well, if you are a model...I guess you do what you can.

American slang....however, I can't find it in an online dictionary - other than the plural of 'goose'. The "g" is soft. Perhaps Jeese?!?

Hey, who knows...who cares.

Perhaps if you threw in a 'z' in there... you know like, uh, "Geez" or "Jeez". I don't know...

Personally I sort of liked it when you started your little rant with "Geese". It gave me a sort of... light-heated view on the whole thing.
THAT'S IT!!JustSpinnin

"Jeez" ... I guess I needed to wake up more before I started raving!!
Main Entry: jeez
Pronunciation: 'jEz
Function: interjection
Etymology: euphemism for Jesus
Date: 1923
-- used as a mild oath or introductory expletive (as to express surprise
Great!Guillermo

Glad to be of help...

Although if you associate "Jesus" with "Geese", there are underlying issues we aren't discussing here.

Hmmmm....

Quite true Guillermo. I would NEVER use HIS name in vane intentionally on the forum. I DO slip up from time-to-time and use it outside of the forum though.... ;-)

But, at least I used the dictionary again...haven't done that in a while!!

Be good.

It's a local thing... it was a little goose puppet... eh... I've betrayed my Midwestern upbringing. Forgive me.

What was the name of the rabbit that always whispered to Frazer Thomas? I can't remember.

Romberg Rabbit! Hey, where are you from, anyway? After I baffled JustSpinnin, I thought I had totally lost everybody.

What is wrong with the podium girls? I wish we had them in the U.S. Perhaps that would give me more motivation to get on the podium...

they could show a LITTLE class and try to be sublte about getting into the shot. Personally, I think they are (well, most of them) are extremely beautiful. Eye candy...that is their function. I have no problem with that.

It just makes me laugh. Perhaps I should have titled mine:

"GIVE ME A BREAK!!! The podium girls make me LAUGH!!!"
At least they aren't wearing Goodyear baseball caps nmBrian C.

True...true. Watch the interview tonight.JustSpinnin
Jul 27, 2001 8:17 AM
If you didn't catch the interview yet...be sure to watch for the girls tonight. It really is quite laughable.
They're called "hostesses". They're supposed to do that!mr_spin
Jul 27, 2001 8:40 AM
Are you nuts?

They are supposed to be hosts and escorts (in the legitimate sense of the word!) Get you some water, Lance? Stand here and flash my brown eyes while you interview, Lance? Defend your honor with the French media, Lance?

Personally, I like it. I'd like to have two of my own at the finish of all my rides! Hell, right now, I'd settle for one.

Geese. Putting tbe spin name to shame.

Thank you. I thought I was the only one who knew that these girls are being paid to stand around behind Lance looking pretty.
Personally, I look forward to seeing them after the stage. The brunette could be the twin sister of a girl that USED to work with me.
I've been late to work everyday since she left. I'm sorry, I have to go now. I'm so depressed. SONYA, I LOVE YOU!!!
Bad Name!?!?!JustSpinnin

Hey mr_spin....no bad intentions at all. I KNEW I should not have put 'sick'.

Look....watch the interview today/tonight. I KNOW they are supposed to be there, no matter their official title, but they literally RAN to get in the camera shot. Then one of them moved when someobody said, "Hey, you're not in the shot. Your'e behind his head. Move over!" I did not HEAR that but you can see it in here eyes.

Just watch it and then give me your opinion.

Spin lives forever!!!!

p.s. It isn't "Geese" - see previous posts...ha ha ha.

If the race was in America, they would be wearing bikini's.

I haven't heard too many people complain about the "trophy girls" at NASCAR races or similar events. They have pretty much the same job as the podium girls at the TDF.

Maybe someone should suggest the bikini thing to the TDF officials for next year!!!!

I doubt that... There would be some group of liberal hairy leg/armpit feminazis that would protest...

I found two problems with your post:
1) the words I hear most frequently when I hear people describing nascar fans are not exactly the same as when people decsribe cycling fans: I've never hear a group of cycling fans refered to as hicks, red-necks, trailer-trash, inbreeds, hill-jacks, crackers, hillbilly, etc...
defined: Genetic condition oft-characterized by lower
intelligence, mass cunsumption of Busch beer, diminished levels
of tact or taste, and frequent laughter at Jeff Foxworthy jokes.

Even if it is true, we shouldn't generalize!

I've grown up in an auto racing family, trust me it is not just NASCAR.

Do the winners wash their faces before they are kissed?E3

Cyclists faces are sweat/grit/saliva/snot/crust covered after 5 hours in the saddle. No wonder the girls lips don't always touch the rider's face.

Here you say what I've felt for a while, but especially after viewing Lance's interview after the TT this morning. Later, you go on to say you actually like it, and that they're eye candy and all that crap.

The girls (cute or not) have no class whatsoever. You're only seeing their faces, for Christ's sake; how's that "eye candy"? They're not showing any flesh. Are we THAT easily stimulated? I can't remember a WORD Lance said this morning, since I was so distracted by the two girls--especially the brunette--and not by their beauty; outraged by their conspicuous lack of class and tact (and even RESPECT for the athletes).

I feel, honestly, that the TV people should either clear people away from the interviewing area or at least cut these chicks out of the picture. Shameless lack of class to me.

There are people out there who'll think I'm too uptight about this. The point of the interview was to hear the world's greatest cyclist's views on the race and whatnot--NOT to watch some teeny-bopper bounce back and forth around his head with her mug in the frame. She's not getting anything out of this exposure, I'm certain, and she should exhibit more class. Odd that she's most likely (if not definitely) French, and they're supposed to be "all about class," finding offense in Americans' too-often lack of it. This isn't at all a rant against the French (or a pro-American rant). I'd just expect more from someone associated with the Tour (and I'm surprised that the HOstesses' boss hasn't taken appropriate measures yet).

There. I've said it. Shoot me.

Perhaps they are "Cycling's Cheerleaders"???

At least they serve the same function. That is, to look at.
