|And I was hoping that rider was JU. He fought hard, but was no match for LA. LA is clearly the superior cyclist in the TdF, and a true TdF champion. |
What I do not like about the current brand of European professional cycling is that the riders train for certain races, and are not competiive for the rest of the year. I'd be much more inclined to root for LA if he also tried to race (and be competitive) in the Giro, the Vuelta, Milan-San Remo, Paris Roubaix, etc. The same for JU, but he does have a Vuelta win to his credit. Yes LA was the World Road Race Champion, but that was before his cancer, when he was a different type of rider. Now he rides solely for the TdF glory, and I think that is a shame for professional cycling.
My 0.02 lira's worth. Sorry for the rant.

|As you go up in rank in sports and anything else for that matter similarities, strength, in the case of sports, outweigh differences. Shrewdness, intelligence, call it what you like come into play. The savviest, most intelligently coached rider is about to win. It was a joy to watch.|| |
