I get so misty and weepy watching the Tour on CBS.

CBS' presentation portrays it as too much of a "bike ride" to unknowing observers. They totally miss the tactics and grittiness that make it a great sport.

I agree. Stateside coverage of the the TdF sucks, big time. It doesn't surprise me that a Canadian station not only has the best coverage of the Tour, but also LIVE coverage. I couldn't stand the sappy New Age music and the purported poetry of Arman Keyteyan. The report mentions no description of the team tactics and virtually no mention of US Postal other than Lance of course and fleeting references to Heras. No mention of Hamilton's valiant effort to just finish or the toughness of Steffan after crashing TWICE and getting road rash on his head. No mention of Pena (what's he doing anyway) and no mention of how George has sacrificed to pull Lance up to the mountains. It's sickening how they make a team sport out to be all about one man.

Furthermore, I've also had it with the obligatory Lance shot on SportsCenter, accompanied by some smart-a$$ comment. I'm going to research how we can e-mail en masse both FOX and ESPN. I did not see the FOX report. Anyone have more info on that one?

OLN's coverage is perfectly complete, with knowledgeable commentary. They show the entire race LIVE in the morning, then show is in a briefer version in the early evening, then show highlights again later in the evening. If you haven't seen it on OLN, you don't know what you are missing. It is nearly perfect.

The coverage is spot on. This is the first tour since I got OLN. I disliked network coverage in past years, but now I loathe it after seeing it done perfectly.

I guess it shows how hooked I am that I made a point to watch CBS this afternoon even though I knew what was in store.
Actually- no they dont show the whole race liveJames1

They normally start it a couple hours into each stage. Even during the 4 hrs special mountain stage coverage they show at most 4 hrs. But I do agree their coverage rocks! GO OLN.
