He still has about 8 minutes on Lance but was only 39 or so seconds behind in the Prologue and only 4 or so minutes on L'alpe D. I know Lance will bring in the time, but can this guy stay with Lance through the Pyrenees to keep some gap beween him and Lance? He is apparently a true climber which worries me a little. I knew Lance was poised to do what he did today. I got goosebumps for sure. He has a $25 million contract to justify now. He will not disappoint. But if this Kivilev guy may grow some balls through the mountains, it could be a little scaary. Please, someone ease my mind!!!
what about Beloki and Moreau? Now you can worry all night... <nmOld Guy

[getting all my info from] he seems like a very solid rider; he's had some very good races. He finished second in Chile in '98, second in the 2000 Tour du Haut-Var, and third in the Trophée Laigueglia (whatever the heck that is) he's ranked 94 in the world. I think he'll fair well in the overall standings, but I wouldn't expect him to be in the top ten. I'd look for him to do very well on a big break-away (5-10 minutes) if he has a few riders with him, but I don't think he has the balls to go alone and I'm sure that he won't be able to consistantly be ahead of the peleton. He just isn't a dedicated TDF rider. He's a good rider, but don't worry.

I was only a tiny bit concerned before today's TT. After seeing how much time he dropped today - I'm not the slightest bit worried about him! I'm actually more worried about Ullrich. If Lance falters just a little bit Ullrich is still close enough to beat him. Not a likely scenerio (IMO) but possible.
