|Payback for the Olympics...and "the look"...||jba|

|Oh man. That prolonged look that Armstrong gave to Ullrich and crew! Man, it gave me chills. It's as if Armstrong were saying to Ullrich, "Yeah, you may have won in the Olympics, but you're in my playground now! Let's see what you can do on these mountains!"
Oh man. I wish I knew what was going through Ullrich's mind when he saw Armstrong give him the five second stare! That had to have unsettled him! Usually, cyclists only give a peripheral glance at their opponents. What Armstrong did was out and out ballsy! He pulled in front of the guy... then gives him this freaking glare and then takes off! Beautiful. Freaking beautiful! Ullrich must have been thinking, "Uh... What? Wh-Wh-What's going on? um...Wh-What are you looking at? ...Wh-What do you want? Whu... Oh sh!t, there he goes... uh... okay... he's still going..."
Incredible race today! What drama!
On a side note... I read that Paul Sherwen lives on the Ugandan border and owns a goldmine! Whatta ya know!

|It was one of those moments that will live in history. Part of what makes this great. When he looked back I moved from sitting to kneeling and when he took off I stood up and cheered. It was worth playing hookie from work.|

|We should feel lucky, we witnessed history, LIVE!! I got up and checked out Lances Hautacam stage last year on eurosport.com live and I was jumping up and down just from the race posts refreshing on the screen. "Lance is 8 min back with 9K to go......Armstrong has made up almost a minute per kilometer and he's only 3 minutes back with 2k to go!!"
Wow when Lance took off it was the most sublime feeling of happiness and laughing my ass off that I have felt for a while. Something just didnt feel right the way Lance was hurting, Phil and Paul were on his case too, but from what I had seen in the rest of the race I knew that over Madeleine and Glandon, that wasn't Lance, that was a human, not Lance. When he took off I laughed my ass off because I knew what he had been doing, I swear the look on Ulrich's face was worth a million dollars. His psyche must have a big crack in it now and tomorrow Lance can break it wide open with a good ride to Chamrousse. GOD I LOVE THIS SPORT!!!!! AND THANK GOD FOR OLN TOO, I AM SO GLAD I SWITCHED MY CABLE COMPANY ON THE 6TH, RIGHT BEFORE THE TOUR.
COOL, I'M OUT

|I don't think the guy has any ill will towards JU, and maybe he was just looking back to see if he was coming along?
I think we are reading too much into "the look"

|Actually, I think we're making too much of it, too. But it's great to pretend. I'm sure LA was just seeing what happened to Rubiera (who fell off quite rapidly after launching forward) and where the rest were before taking off. But it's great to turn such a beautiful attack off the front into some mythical eye to eye challenge from one champion to the other. I know i made too much of it... but I'm sure half of what we also hear about long-gone tour battles is mostly myth mixed with truth.|| |
