I was out of touch over the weekend and radio reports about the tour are useless. Friday afternoon Lance et al. weren't two minutes behind. Now it's half an hour. What gives?

USPS let them go as they dont perceive the lead group to be a threat all the way to Paris. Maybe today they shake their legs out and take some time back from Julich.

Looks to me like Ullrich & Armstrong were so wrapped up in their own perceived/anticipated battle for supremacy that they forgot to take other teams seriously. C.A. looks like the real deal at this point, and they have momentum to boot. Julich (when on form) can climb as well as anyone, so these impending vertical stages will be compelling to witness. Most interesting Tour (so far) since '96, IMHO. Will only get better, too.

Threat or no threat they shouldn't let a group get 35 minutes out on a flat stage. Those guys could have stopped for pizza and a few beers and still won the stage with time to spare.
