George H. where are you?Djudd

Where is George Hincapie? A few years ago he was almost in yellow for the sprint stages. I thought he might even contend for the green jersey by now. Hopefully Bruyneel has not completely sacrificed everyone's race for LA.

George is right where he is getting paid to be - working for Lance. The posties have only one goal at the TDF and that is to work towards a Lance Armstrong win. That's what they are hired to do at this race. If they don't like it then they can go ride for another team - as others have done.

Don't you think the Posties have enough talent to throw George some sprint bones especially in the early stages tailor-made for sprinters. Telekom sure keeps Zabel happy (though they did leave out his favorite lead-out man in favor of another mountain goat for Ullrich), Ullrich even gave Zabel a pull in a sprint earlier. Just a thought

Look at the TTT Telekom was weak becuse they did help Zabel and came in 27 seconds behind USPS and 1:53 behind CA. Plus, I love Georgie but I dont think he has the top speed of Zabel, Steels or Kirsipuu. He is a stronger overall rider than them though.

I think a few folks might feel different about Ullrich losing just yet (I support LA 100%). It's debatable that the TTT time was entirely due to lead-outs for Zabel. I do agree that Hincapie's top end is not Zabel's but it would be nice to find out and to see an American in the green jersey race. Maybe George is taking solace in becoming a heck of classics rider, which he is

Yea, it would be interesting to see George up there going for some sprint points and stage wins, but that's just not what they are there for. They have a very focused plan of attack with the one and only goal being a win for Lance.

The point you make about lead-out man is important. Who would lead out for George? I honestly think he's not that much of a sprinter, much more of a classics rider. USPS is really climber heavy (although the TTT went well) and they need GH taking care of lance. It would be fun to see him in green though. It will be fun to watch the rest develop.

Doing the hardman thing for Lance and the team. They usually loose him in the final stages when the yellow jersey is all sewn up. Don't expect anything except suffering from him until the end.
