|Does anyone what the breakdown is for time bonuses? (ie. How many seconds for first? second? ...) It seems like some stages they are awarded and others they aren't. Sort of confusing, and I can't find it explained anywhere. Thanks.|

|It flashed across the screen today, but I didn't memorize it. If it's like NASCAR, they make up the rules as they go along. |
I don't see any explanations at VeloNews...

|I'm not sure of the specifics but I think most stages have time bonuses for the finish, the sprint, and KoM banners. I think its 6-4-2 for sprint bonuses and the climbing bonuses depend on the catergory 4-3-2-1-HC and I'm not sure about the stage time bonuses. But I think onlt the top 3 get bonuses. just my 2 cents|

|Go to cycling4all.com and they explain it.
Time bonuses are 6-4-2 for intermediate sprints, 20-12-8 for the finish on all stages except time trials. You don't get time bonuses for the KOM race, just points for your total in the competition.
The points competition: you get the points (as well as the time bonuses) from the intermediate sprints, as well as points depending on your placing at the finish of each stage (more points for flat stages, than intermediate stages, than mountain stages). So, the points race is biased toward sprinters, who can do well on the flat stages.
