Jan this, Jan that....ScaryFast

You know everyone seems to be talking about Lance vs. Jan. Is that all there is?
Don't get me wrong, even though i like Lance, I have a soft spot for Jan Ullrich. I think, however, that someone like Beloki is just as big a threat; we simply don't talk about him, or Franceso Casag. because they haven't quite reached the star status the other two have. I never heard of Francesco Casagrande till he won the giro last year, yet he is such an elite athlete. All I'm saying, is that I wouldn't be shocked if some lesser known rider rises up to the challenge!

Good call, only Casagrande didn't win the Giro last year.

Oops, that's right. Garzelli won it, but Casagrande lead for a good bit of it.

I agree - let's not overlook other very strong riders.

But I am not certain that other teams will work for the leader as well as the Posties do. Ullrich realized he needs to train specifically for the Tour, then Telekom realized the need for a lieutenant on the climbs and got Livingston, but I am not sure every Telekom rider will put Ullrich's standing on the GC above their own ambitions. Ditto for Fasso-Bartolo, Festina, et al.
There's a surprise every year. I can't wait!

lance and jan are the only two in the race this year that have won before.
