I am newbie to the road bike riding and would appreciate advise of more experienced riders. Here is my question. I live in Tempe, AZ and would like to go around Greater Phoenix Area. If you know some good routes around, espessially those that go through Phoenix mountains, plese contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks a lot, Anatoli

There are some decent group rides that you may want to try - you'll meet other riders & learn a lot.
Two rides that leave from the NE corner of Warner & Rural in Tempe:
1. Saturday - fast interval ride with a few hills
2. Sunday - varied pace group ride, all flat, with optional 8 mile climb up South Mountain.
Both rides start at 6am in August; 6:30 in September, 7:00 in October, etc.
Otherwise, Ahwatukee is a good place to ride with some decent small hills. From ASU - you can ride south on Rural to Guadalupe, then west on Guadalupe, over the freeway, and then the road turns south. head west as desired.
North Scottsdale is also a great place to ride, with decent hills.
