Paul, you're going to be in the most beautiful area in michigan. Route 119 runs along the coastline of lake michigan from Harbor Springs, northbound to Cross village. every once in awhile you can look down (way down) and see the great lake. The pavement is nice and smooth but the road is pretty narrow (pretty tight for two cars to squeeze past each other) it is very curvy (lots of blind curves). I have seen many cyclist on this road when on vacation up north. Just be careful and wear something very bright and visible, a few car driving enthusiast also know of this beautiful road but most are aware of the cycling popularity on it also.
There is a bike/ski shop in petosky which is about ten miles south and west from harbor springs but i'm sure there is a bike shop in H.S. also, both towns are known for being "big money/old money" areas. have fun and be careful. oh yeah, if you decide to ride from H.S. to Cross village bring plenty to drink because theres nothing in between the towns but summer homes (1 small gas station/store in Cross village).
Great ride!PaulCL

thanks. I did it three times with slight variances. I got to know the lady at the diner in Cross Village well. I made that diner a coffee stop each morning. And OH MY!! What big money/old money is around there. whoa!

Glad to hear it worked out well for you Paul, it's the nicest area in Michigan. Did you ride in the mornings? how was the four wheel variety of traffic? chad
