Red River Valley Fighter Pilots Ass'n TeamTEAM RAT
Dec 12, 2001 6:01 AM
TEAM RAT is an informal mountain and road club/team representing and supporting the Red River Valley Fighter Pilots Association ("River Rats").

The Rats were founded in 1967 by aircrew flying north of the Red River Valley into North Vietnam. Since then, the Rats have expanded to include aircrew from all US services, representing all wars since WWII to and including present operations in Afghanistan.

TEAM RAT announces our 2002 Jersey and Wind Jacket, to be produced by Louis Garneau, and pictured in the attached file. Jerseys and jackets will be ordered Jan 11, and delivered early Spring. Cost is $60, plus true shipping charges.

Proceeds from the sales go to the Rats, supporting our two primary activities - the scholarship fund, and the Air Warrior Courage Foundation (AWCF). The scholarship fund assists dependents of those military members Killed or Missing in Action (including the attacks of 9/11 and the war in Afghanistan), Prisoners of War, and other veterans. The AWCF assists veterans with extraordinary medical expenses and/or needs.

For more information on the Rats themselves, visit our website at For more information on Team Rat, including opportunities to sponsor the team or a rider, or to order a jersey or jacket, contact us at

If you live in the Wichita Falls area, here are the rides we support:

Sat's 10am - No-Drop Road ride - Currently 27 Mile route, building as we go.

Sun's 4pm - MTB Ride - ride at your own pace, an experienced rider rides "sweep." Nobody gets left in the lurch.

Mon's 4pm - Road Ride - just starting

Tue's/Thu's 6pm - Night MTB ride - bring a good headlight

Wed's - 4pm? Thinking of another MTB ride.

Monthly - MTB Time Trials at Camp Fuller

Once Daylight Savings Time starts, expect more road rides.

Meet at Texoma Cycling - call them at 723-7230 for directions. Helmets required. No, you don't have to be a fighter pilot, or even military to participate in the ride or the team.
