Going to Colorado Springs for a week and am looking to do some climbing while there. Any suggestions or recommendations?

When I lived in the Springs, we rode a lot in Garden of the Gods. Not long climbs, but challenging with super fast technical decents. The 1991 Jr. World Championship Road Race was held in the park. We rode it the night before when the roads were closed and they were swept clean of all sand and debris. That was awesome.

We also rode into Cheyenne Mountain Canyon, behind the Broadmoor for a good steep steady climb. You could ride out on Hwy 24 to Woodland Park, but the traffic has become very dense. I would not do that one. Another good ride is through Palmer Park. Again not very long, but it has a great decent to test your handling skills.

Lastly, I'd suggest riding into the Air Force Acadamy. Great roads that are not heavily travelled.

Have fun!!

Try Old Stage Road that leaves behind the Broadmoor, you'll need a MTB or crossbike though. Great hills and forest, few cars. Smooth gravel/dirt 2WD road.
