|I'll be in St. L in the next week and would like to check out a high end road bike shop. There just aren't any in my area. Any suggestions?

|I don't live in St. Louis but pass through there fairly regularly. My two favorite shops are Mesa Cycles in Clayton where I bought my Merlin several years ago and Maplewood Cycles on Manchester Rd. I have found the employees at both shops to be friendly and informed. Mechanics at Maplewood seem particularly good. Although I've never had service work done there I have asked questions and received willing answers. Another decent shop is A-1 which is further west on Manchester Rd. near Lindbergh. They have a decent selection of things but I've found the staff less helpful. Could just be me. There are several Touring Cyclist shops around town and a couple of smaller places worth checking out if you have some time.|

|I won't have a lot of time to shop around but I was hoping to hit a shop or two with a good selection of high-end road bikes and accessories. There's just not a lot in stock around here (So. IN). Thanks for the info.

|Try the following shops:
1. Mesa Cycles...truly one of the best and coolest shops in the country. High end road and mountain. The shop feels like a great big bike toy store. Talk to Russ.
2. Maplewood Bicycles...lest spiffy, but carries great brand lines and is big into the local race scene. Talk to Stewart.
3. Big Shark Bicycles...funky little shop, with some cool people working there.
