Shimano brakes, what vintage?? (6 posts)
| Shimano brakes, what vintage?? | Grizfan Nov 15, 2003 7:01 PM | | Bought these from a guy who picked them up on a trip to Japan, Shimano-600($20.) with some cool dura ace stamped pads. Curious what vintage they are? They are nutted style front and rear. I passed on the matching levers, wishing I had bought them. |
| additional?? | Grizfan Nov 16, 2003 2:46 PM | | Seems odd that the cables run opposite of most Ive seen? |

The cranks had a 6mm self-extracting allen bolt, and the headset had an alloy locknut that required a special wrench. The shifters were on the down tube, and the brake levers were the old non-aero type. I bought a bike with all that in 1981. |
