Shimano brakes, what vintage??Grizfan

Bought these from a guy who picked them up on a trip to Japan, Shimano-600($20.) with some cool dura ace stamped pads. Curious what vintage they are? They are nutted style front and rear. I passed on the matching levers, wishing I had bought them.

Pre 1980, I'd say. I do remember the 'opposite' cable routing.

Those look like the brakes that came with the shifters and cranks with all the fancy engraving. The cranks had a 6mm self-extracting allen bolt, and the headset had an alloy locknut that required a special wrench. The shifters were on the down tube, and the brake levers were the old non-aero type. I bought a bike with all that in 1981.

There is a date code on the component to tell you when it was manufactured. More here:

Thanks for all the info....(NM)Grizfan
