Brooks sddle/Am. Clssic post- any rail breakage issues?Auriaprottu

I have an American Classic seatpost that I'd like to use with my B-17. But it seems I read someplace (I want to say it was the Rivendell site, but I'm not sure- i'ts not there now, at any rate) that the American Classic post isn't recommended for a Brooks, because the clamp supposedly can cut into the rails. Anyone else heard anything like this? Thanks in advance.

I don't think Riv has ever mentioned Am Classic by name, but they frequently warn against using seatposts with small clamps because of the added stress on the rails. They don't limit it to Brooks - the concept applies universally. I've been using Am Classic posts on my Rivendell for years (with Brooks and other saddles) and have had a couple of posts go south on me (in the small parts department), but no problems with saddle rails breaking. YMMV.
