I beleive it has "Sardenes" or Sarjenes on the downtube. Memory is failing. Lugs, double up front and stem shifters. I'm looking for a winter beater/commuter BUT I don't want to put a lot of time into a non-classic. How do I tell stamped vs. forged dropouts?

Thanks for any help.
If it has stem shifters, skip itStraightblock

They were generally found on entry-level bikes. Check Sheldon Brown's website to see the different types of dropouts.

stem shifters could have been added later. as could most of the parts.

my moto grand jubile, 531 tubing, nervex lugs, had suntour stem shifters, shimano 600 RD, and no FD.
