So I finally got the stuck cog off the high-flange rear wheel on the Paramount (God bless Moto-tool), and then started looking at the spoke lacing in preparation for replacing the whole set of rotten spokes.

I do believe these things qualify as 4-cross lacing! I don't think I've ever seen that before, but I guess it must be the norm for high-flange wheels.
I've seen it.Trevo

The Sansin wheelset from my Trek are four crossed. And they were low-flange wheels.

I got this book from my Library called "Schwinn Bicycles" Its the history of Schwinns. Anyway in there on a 1930's paramount track bike Iam pretty sure that the wheels are more then four crossed.

I'll have to follow those under a magnifier or microscope. You're right, at least 4-cross, maybe 5. And they're the highest high-flange hubs I've ever seen.
I have a pair like that from my early 70's World Sport.....bicyclerepairman
