Having a custom jersey imprint made ...Humma Hah
Jul 3, 2003 8:02 AM
OK, I've given up on finding a Schwinn jersey for sale I'd wanna wear. Did see a nice red one on e-bay this week that just has the Quality Logo on it, no Toyota ads or MTB-specific stuff, but its too big for me.

I'm figuring to generate my own artwork and have a white jersey printed to suit. I've downloaded some artwork from the internet, and am using a drafting program to clean it up so it will look good at the intended size. I'll use the classic 1960's Schwinn top tube logo, P A R A M O U N T under that, maybe put Humma Hah on the back, possibly add some decorations such as a Quality seal and maybe Swooshes or the Corvette seat tube decorations on the sleeves.

So, the question is, am I likely to find a sports shirt imprinting service who will put this art on a jersey without sending a pack of lawyers out to get trademark permissions? Should I get one of those kits that lets me create transfers on a color laser printer and iron it on myself?

How 'bout buying a solid color wool jersey and have it embroidered for that classic styling? There are shops or independents out there that do small run custom stuff, or you could just do it yourself.

I did just what he says. I got myself a cool looking woolie, went out to a small shop and had them screen stitch whatever I wanted on it. They are pretty flexible and can easily do what you want done. They can also screen stitch on Lycra jerseys as well. I have had this done for some people before and it looks really nice. So if you don't like wool just get yourself the colors in lycra and get it done. Usually they don't guarentee the lycra because they worry about the material bunching and errors when stitching it...but the guy I have do all my work always gives me his disclaimer speech and then does outstanding work!! Give it a try Humma hah.
