Rusty Spoke's 1809's Pierce ...Humma Hah

I just discovered a website for a shop I once visited in San Diego, near La Jolla. The name is Rusty Spokes. I consider them overpriced, but interesting. I have not been in there in about 3 years, and note that some of the bikes they list were there when I last visited.

This is one, an 1890's vintage Pierce. It was being sold for $1800, unrestored, but not all of the parts were original due to a botched attempt by an earlier owner to "restore" it. I thought that made an interesting bike: 1890's bike boom safety bike, not original so not a crime to refinish, re-equip, and get back on the road. I fantasized about buying it and setting it up as a century bike, and see if anyone noticed that it was not modern.

This link takes you to the store site ... look for the Pierce button. Just browse, don't buy ... expensive.
