|I've been eyeing an older AMF bike recently and its got either a 5 or 6 speed cassette(not sure which). on the larger cogs, the spacing of the teeth is rediculous. it looks like you could fit 3 more teeth between the ones that are there on the biggest cog. they havent' been broken off either. what's this all about?
Part 2: I'm sure this wouldn't be a racer, but can someone tell me something about AMFs? its got shimano something on it, stem mounted friction shifters and moustache-type bars with the two way pull brake levers.

|It's a freewheel. Some of the old wide-range freewheels, maybe a 14-32 tooth range, had a missing-tooth pattern on the largest cogs, supposedly to help the chain climb up from the smaller cogs.
AMF? They're pretty big in bowling, but their bikes were strictly low-end, toy store stuff, in the caliber of Huffy, Murray, etc. If you're serious about riding, keep looking.
