any opinions on early 80's trek lugged steel bikes? The one i'm looking into is Reynolds 501 chromally double butted? what do you think, going to use it as a single speed bike.

Read all about it: http://www.vintage-trek.com

I've never had any complaints about my trek.

I just built up a mid 80's Trek frame (531 tubing) as a single speed/fixed gear and it turned out great.

Had an old Trek 520 (road racing geometry, 501 tubes), that I bought new in 1983. Great bike -- wish I still had it. Pretty much learned 80% of what I know about bike maintenance on that rig.
