Going to moustache handlebars, do I need a shorter stem w/some rise? Thanks!
If you're stretched out now, probably socory

I put 'stache bars on one of my bikes a couple of years ago, and I think I went down from a 130 road quill stem to a Specialized Fast Fit (mountain bike; all I could find) about 70cm long with a couple of inches of rise. The original bars were lower than I like anyway, and the mustache bars are normally held out on the front of the curved portion, which is 2-3 inches ahead of the stem clamp(sorry to be vague, but I don't have the bike here where I can measure anything).
If I were you, I think I'd try it with the stem I have now first. Assuming you're pretty comfortable now, though, you'll probably want to come back a little with the new bars.

As the other poster stated; most find a shorty stem a little more comfortable due to the forward bend of the stache bars.

Remember, raising your current stem shortens your effective reach. If you have any room on the quill left for raising, Id try your current stem first. If youre still stretched out, then spend the $$ for another stem.
