Has anyone painted their own bike. What kind of paint did you use? Clearcoat? Procedures? What kind of spray gun (HVLP?), compressor, etc.

Any info would be helpful. I really want to do everything myself!!

Thanks....Dan
The first time I repainted it I used DupliColor ...Humma Hah

And it looked really great for about a week. By 6 months it looked worse than before I painted it. It stayed that way for about 20 years, at which point I handed it over to CyclArt to be totally stripped, powdercoated, and decalled.

The biggest challenge in a do-it-yourself job is not so much the painting equipment as the painting environment. A first-class job requires dust-free air for long enough to dry the paint. On top of that, I assume you don't want your garage, basement, etc, to match your bike -- spray paint tends to get everywhere, in spite of your best efforts to mask the area, spray in little rooms made of cardboard boxes, etc. If you can rig a decent paint spray booth, you've overcome the biggest hurdle.
