Humma Hah, How is your project bike coming along?wspokes

Did you ever get your latest project up and running Humma Hah! Just curious. you gathered up enough parts. I just picked up a frameset for a winter project. I am considering turning it into a fixie. Well, actually I picked up two framesets. one will be a fixie and I have enough parts lying around to build up the other with a mix of retro parts including some Campy NR items. I just scored a batch of campy parts, tons of parts in basically in a bulk package. The batch includes some old Campy H/f hubs and all kinds of other goodies. Projects can be fun!

I had to beg my wife for enough time to go up to the swap meet, much less do any installation. I did take the time that evening to slap all the parts loosely on the bike to be sure I'd bought the right thing. Everything seems to fit.

I still need to scrounge or buy a few more parts. Brake cables and chain, a seat post clamp, some straps for the toe-clips, stuff like that.

I had hoped to ride it this weekend in MB1's No Shifting Allowed Or Coasting Either century this weekend, but it looks like I'll just show up with the cruiser and get in a token few miles. I'll be getting 2 wisdom teeth out tomorrow, and I doubt I'll be really frisky Saturday.

The last few months have been crazy, between an ambitious schedule at work, a do-it-yourself move to a new house, a do-it-yourself refurb of the old house, and a for-sale-by-owner sale of same. We've got two offers on the table at the moment, though, and it looks like we'll get a good price, so maybe I will have time AND money in a few weeks.

IWhat parts are you looking for exactly? I just got a mixed assortment of some parts. Maybe I have something you can use. On the other note, I built a house in 1999, remember that there is never enough money to cover all of our projects!
Money should not actually be the problem ...Humma Hah

... although my wife may not agree. We just got a contract on the old townhouse this weekend, at a very good price. We should clear ... um ... a substantial amount on it, more than we need to pay down the new house. Sweet deal. I'll be starting improvements on the garage in a couple of months. I anticipate my side of it will be a very nice bike shop.

I'm hoping for 70's vintage Campy Pista track cranks and chainring, and Campy brakes suitable for the bike. I'd also like better bars, stem, brake levers, retro style, although once I tape the bars, who's to know who made 'em.

Does anyone remember that line from a movie...The future is in plastics....actually, real estate is pretty promising nowadays...doesn't anyone watch the Sopranos!

Sounds like you are on track for some good Future plans! Get that beast built up so we can see some pictures.

I just acquired a ton of old campy parts from NR derailleurs to H/F hubs, I am looking forward to building up some rims and getting another rig on the road.

use that line all the time. especially good for weddings and bar mitsvah's, when you're getting tired of talking to someone.

any spare NR brake calipers?

I am expecting a second box of goodies this week. I don't think I have any brake calipers coming though, and I know I don't have any lying around. Mon apologies. Post to the BOB list or CR list. I am sure someone has a set out there.

I especially like the comment you made about getting out of talking. I do some pretty strange things to get out of conversations...my girlfriend absolutely loves it when I do some things. Some of my behavior traits are pretty wild also. She has trouble containing laughter at times though but it is quite entertaining. In the past, I have been known to attack the pack in group rides where I am bored or sick of listening to someone bragging about their latest equipment and bike and just ride home. It can be quite fun!
